Design and Features
We use “Anisotropic” rubber magnetic tape instead of the common isotropic tape. Although more expensive to produce, it is denser with a much stronger magnetic attraction.
Because of this stronger attraction a narrower 9.5mm magnetic tape is used, making it less visibly intrusive.
This narrow tape can be used on window frames that have as little as 10mm width available.
It is supplied as an “A”/”B”/”A” configuration (where an “A” magnetic strip is attracted to a “B” magnetic strip).
An “A” magnetic strip is self-adhered around the edge of the window frame opening.
The fly screen is made using fibre-glass mesh which is sandwiched between “B” and “A” magnetic strips. The “B” magnetic strips of the screen are magnetically attracted to the “A” magnetic strips adhered around the frame.
The flexible magnetic strips give a strong permanent frame with no need for additional plastic frame support.
Because the magnetic strips form the frame, the frame colour is a medium charcoal which blends with the black rubber insert surrounding the glass within aluminium window frames.
The screen fibreglass mesh size is 18 x 16 per square inch. This is 288 holes per square inch, less than 1.5mm per hole. This allows for good ventilation but small enough to keep mosquitoes out.
The mesh only comes in black but it is transparent from 1 metre away – you don’t know it’s there.
Each screen comes with 4 strengthening L-shape pieces that you glue to the corners giving a tidy finish.
